Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about 2020 Giving Day.

What is Giving Day?

Giving Day is a 24-hour, online fundraising marathon on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020. From midnight to midnight, we encourage all members of the `Runner community to participate, including students, parents, staff, faculty, alumni, friends and community leaders. The goal is to have as many participants as possible come together to support students!

How do I participate in Giving Day?

Participating is easy! You can:

1) Give online at givingday.csub.edu. Give to where your heart is — to whatever school or program that resonates with you.

2) Spread the word to family and friends. Use #CSUBGivingDay on social media. Remember: When we all come together, we can be the fuel that makes a lasting impact on student success.

3) Attend CSUB’s 50th anniversary celebration on Oct. 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. More information can be found at csub.edu/50/events.

Why should I participate?

Over 70% of CSUB students need financial assistance to attend school. Additionally, Kern County and the Antelope Valley region have among the lowest educational attainment in the nation. CSUB aims to increase educational opportunities for all in our region, and your support is critical to fulfill that mission.

Where should I give?

Give to whichever area you are most passionate about! If you aren't sure, the CSUB Fund supports the highest priorities on campus. Or, you may support specific departments and programs by selecting 'Other' in the gift form and typing in the program of your choice. Descriptions should be very specific to help gift processing.

How can I spread the word about CSUB’s Giving Day?

Please use the hashtag #CSUBGivingDay on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and encourage others to give! And be sure to check out @CSUBakersfield on social media throughout the day for giveaway opportunities! You can win exclusive 50th anniversary swag.

What are challenges?

Challenges are opportunities to earn bonus funds that are donated by a specific group. For example, if a certain program reaches a minimum number of donors within a specified timeframe, they can earn bonus money from a donor. See the list of challenges here.

Is my Giving Day contribution tax-deductable?

Absolutely. Your gift is 100% tax-deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes. Please consult your tax adviser.

Is there a minimum gift amount?

CSUB’s Giving Day accepts gifts of $5 or more.
